The feeling of life
The feeling of life, do you know it? Do you feel it tickling your toes when you wake up in the morning? Do you long for that moment where the wind sings you to sleep and the cold gives you a goodnight kiss on your cheek? Do you remember those days that you were soaked to the skin and all you could do is smile? Do you remember those days that you didn’t have a worry in the world? That’s life! The moments that won’t pay your bills, but that will stick with you forever. The moments that will help you get through whatever lies ahead. The moments that you can replay in your mind when you close your eyes. The moments nobody will ever take away from you.

We live among so much luxury that we forget to feel the world we live in. We forget to enjoy the little things, but they are the only ones that matter. The moments that made you smile, the moments that made you feel so intensely that everything else in the world disappeared and the moments that make you realise how fragile life can be.
Living intensely may hurt, but in the end, it is the best feeling in the world. When I cry, I cry with every inch of my soul and when I smile it is with every fibre of my being. This is what makes travelling so important to me. On the road there is nothing else to do than to get lost in the moment. Life will be more extreme. You might be hungry, you might get stuck and you might face a part of the world you never knew existed, but if you have never felt hunger and never gotten stuck, you will never discover who you truly are. It is the extremes that make life worth living and sometimes awaken a part in yourself you never expected.
It all comes down to the four elements of the Commando spirit: ‘be courageous, determined, unselfish and cheerful in the face of adversity.’ Embrace life and make the most of it.
Live it, because you won’t get a second chance.
