Fragile reality
Last weekend we were harshly reminded of how precious life can be. We received the news that a friend, a fellow traveller and an incredible human being lost his life. Just a few days before his departure he told us how much he was looking forward to his motorbike trip with his loved one. The trip started, but they never reached their destination. She ended up in hospital, he entered another world. A beautiful couple torn apart leaving behind a vast emptiness. Pain for his loss entered our hearts together with the realisation this could have been us.
I want to honour him by writing this. I want to respect his life by carrying him along during our next adventures. Sometimes we need to be reminded of how fragile life can be. One moment something may be, another it may be gone forever. Some people say that is the risk of riding motorbikes, rather I would say it is the risk of living. Death may lurk around the corner wherever you are during whatever you are doing. You may be sitting at home, walking on the footpath or riding your car.
The human body is fragile in its strength and futile in its existence.
Let us sit back, take a moment to think and appreciate those who matter most. Just for a moment let us forget about what we are told matters most and look into our own hearts. Let’s appreciate the time we have and those who decide to accompany us during this journey.
